Effective meetings with Azerbaijani delegation in Mexican Senate

The delegation led by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ali Hasanov is on official visit to the United Mexican States in connection with opening of Mexico-Azerbaijan Friendship Park, monument to the National Leader of our people Heydar Aliyev erected in that park and “Tlakskoake-Khojaly” square where a monument to Khojaly genocide has been built. On August 22, 2012, within the visit, Ali Hasanov met with the leaders of the Mexican Senate and senators, as well as the Vice-President of the Senate (Deputy chairman) Francisco Arroyo Vieira, author of the resolution on “Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict and Khojaly genocide” made in the Mexican Senate in 2011 - Senator Carlos Jimenez Macias, group leader of the Institutional Revolutionary Party - Senator Carlos Navarrete Ruiz. The Vice-President of the Senate Arroyo Vieira warmly welcomed the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ali Hasanov and mentioning his recent visit to Azerbaijan said he was satisfied with the growth of various, as well as inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries. Besides, Senator Arroyo Vieira said he witnessed high appreciation of democratic values in our country, rapid development of Azerbaijani economy during his visit to Azerbaijan. He expressed his gratitude for hospitality shown to the Mexican delegation during the visit to Baku. Mexican Senator mentioning the issue of occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenian armed forces, said Azerbaijani people were very tolerant, and that Azerbaijan always preferred solution of this problem through peace, despite of economic and military potential playing special role in the region and in European energy security. The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ali Hasanov said it was honour for him to convey the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev’s greetings to the Mexican Congress and people. The Deputy Prime Minister mentioned bilateral and inter-parliamentary relations developing between the two countries and emphasized that many documents were signed in this field. Then giving detailed information about Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict and its causes, Ali Hasanov mentioned that 20 per cent of our territories were under occupation by Armenian armed forces, more than one million people became refugees and IDPs, and the problem remained unsolved during 20 years as a result of non-constructive position of Armenia. He said Azerbaijani people were peace-loving, never warred, but was subjected to aggression, the problem of refugees and IDPs was the priority problem of the state. Ali Hasanov noted that the aim of his visit is connected with opening of Mexico-Azerbaijan Friendship Park built in Mexico City, the Square where the monument to the National Leader of our people, great leader, capable politician, one of the political leaders of the former SSR Heydar Aliyev and Khojaly genocide were erected, and thanked to the Senate for the resolution made on Khojaly genocide in 2011. He noted that building such a park in Azerbaijan is also necessary and stressed his assurance that the Mexico-Azerbaijan Friendship Park built in Mexico City and the Square where the monument to Khojaly genocide has been erected, would become real recreation centres for residents of Mexico City. Ali Hasanov invited the Senate Leaders, its members and representatives of mass media to visit Azerbaijan. Senator Carlos Navarrete Ruiz participating at the meeting mentioned, in his speech, visit to Azerbaijan and said he had got detailed information on development processes in Azerbaijan and Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict. He expressed his regret at Azerbaijani territories’ being under occupation up to this date, wish and assurance for fair solution of the conflict and visit to those territories after they are freed. Author of the resolution on “Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict and Khojaly genocide” made in the Mexican Senate in 2011 - Senator Carlos Jimenez Macias made a speech and noted development of relations between the parliaments of the two countries increased. Mentioning the visit to Azerbaijan together with the delegation led by him, he expressed his gratitude for hospitality shown to them. In the end, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Hasanov wrote his heartfelt words in memorial book of the Mexican Senate. After the meeting, the Azerbaijani delegation was solemnly met in general session room by the Senate President Jose Gonzalez Morfin, as well as in the presence of the senators and deputies – both Houses of the Congress. The Senate President J.G.Morfin introduced Ali Hasanov to congressmen, noted that a resolution was made after discussing Khojaly genocide in the Senate in 2011 and the world community should be fair in solution of such problems, said he would visit Karabakh to be freed, and offered congratulations on opening of Mexico-Azerbaijan Friendship Park and “Tlakskoake-Khojaly” Square in Mexico City.
