On December 12, the staff of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs visited the grave of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the Alley of Honor.
The memory of Heydar Aliyev, the founder and architect of the independent state of Azerbaijan, is precious to every Azerbaijani. Refugees and IDPs who left their ancestral lands as a result of Armenia's deportation policy and military aggression have always felt the special attention and care of the Great Leader. It was on his initiative and under his leadership that the first state program on solving the problems of refugees and IDPs was developed and implemented. Following the success of Heydar Aliyev's effective oil strategy, the initial funds of the State Oil Fund were allocated for improving the housing and living conditions of refugees and IDPs. Furthermore, international organizations began providing assistance to refugees, responding to the Great Leader's initiatives and calls, thereby mitigating the humanitarian disaster.
President Ilham Aliyev has further enriched and successfully continues the state policy laid down by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev in the field of work with refugees and IDPs. After our victory in the Patriotic War in 2020, purposeful work is underway to ensure the sustainable settlement of former IDPs in their native lands. According to the I State Program on the Great Return to the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, more than four thousand IDPs have been settled in our restored and reconstructed historical lands. All necessary measures are being implemented to ensure the voluntary, safe and dignified return of IDPs. Large projects implemented under the initiative and leadership of First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, also play an important role in the reconstruction of the liberated territories.
The staff of the State Committee on Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons commemorated the memory of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev with deep respect and laid flowers at his grave.
