On December 7, the Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and Displaced Persons of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Rovshan Rzayev, held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Azerbaijan, Ralf Horlemann.
The Chairman of the State Committee informed the Ambassador about the ongoing activities within the framework of the execution of the I State Program on the Great Return, the initial results of the return of IDPs to their native land, and other directions of the Committee's activities.
It was noted that, according to the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, regular work is underway on the restoration, reconstruction, revival of the liberated territories, effective organization of a safe, voluntary, and dignified return of IDPs, and taking necessary measures for the successful implementation of the Great Return. It was emphasized that the provision of care and attention to refugees and IDPs and the improvement of their living conditions is a leading line in the activity of the First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva.
It was expressed with confidence that the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ GmbH) will continue its successful activity in connection with IDPs in the past years in our country during the Great Return period.
Ambassador Ralf Horlemann, expressing sincere gratitude for the cordial meeting and detailed information, noted that the issue of refugees and IDPs is not unfamiliar for Germany as well. It was noted that in the last century, Germany was divided into two parts, East and West Germany, and the issue of refugees and IDPs emerged. After the reunification of the country, the employment and reintegration of the population took a long time. Therefore, we understand very well the challenges you are facing. The Ambassador noted that there is a remarkable progress in the return of IDPs to the liberated territories. Germany will continue its support for Azerbaijan in the field of demining and the return of IDPs.
During the meeting, issues of mutual interest were discussed.
