The relocation of internally displaced people to their own country is ongoing, according the I State Program on the Great Return to the Liberated Territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan. So far, around one thousand families have been moved to reconstructed and renovated villages. Aghali hamlet in the Zangilan district is home to 175 families, totaling 871 individuals, and is the first village where the Great Return started.
Aghali was constructed using the “Smart Village” idea, and all the circumstances needed for a comfortable and secure living have been met, including the construction of the socio-technical infrastructure that satisfies current standards. State-owned enterprises and private institutions operating here support the employment of villagers.
In the yard of their home, each Aghali resident has established a small farm where they raise chickens and cultivate garden plants and fruit trees.
The Great Return accelerates the revitalization of the liberated territories by bringing fresh vitality to them. One of the top priorities of state policy is the stable settlement and reintegration of internally displaced people into their home countries. Every state institution contributes to this process within the Great Return Program framework by carrying out the responsibilities given to it. In the rebuilt and restored settlements, reintegration initiatives and community-based development programs are implemented to help the populace adjust.
