Germany recognizes and support territorial integrity of Azerbaijan

The Deputy Prime Minister, Chair of the State Committee on Deals of Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov met with the delegation including the members of European Parliament and German Bundestag, who are on visit to Azerbaijan, on June 6. Prospects for development of bilateral relations, issues on Armenian-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict were discussed, and views in connection with some subjects causing mutual interest were exchanged at the meeting. Ali Hasanov talked about the history of Armenian-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, activities carried out for the solution of social problems of refugees and IDPs in our country. He noted that as a result of the military aggression of Armenian armed forces in our country, 20% of Azerbaijani lands - Nagorno Karabakh and seven adjacent regions were occupied, more than one million of our cognates became refugees and IDPs. Speaking about the activities fulfilled by the state for improving living conditions of refugees and IDPs, Chair of the Committee emphasized that 5 milliard US dollars were spent for solution of their problems in last 20 years. Besides, 71 new settlements were built for refugees and IDPs in Azerbaijan up to this date. Expressing his assurance for refugees and IDPs’ returning to their native lands, the Deputy Prime Minister thanked Germany as it always supports Azerbaijan’s fair position. Former member of German Bundestag and Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Edward Lintner said: “Germany recognizes and supports territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. This position is permanent and unchangeable”. Emphasizing the importance of settling Armenian-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict in a short period of time, E. Lintner said that ensuring peace and security in South Caucasus region is not possible without solving this problem. The guest noted that Germany highly appreciated the activities carried out by the government for the improvement of living conditions of refugees and IDPs in Azerbaijan. The guests were presented a disk and a book dealing with Armenian-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Then the guests got acquainted with living conditions of IDPs settled in hostel № 1of Baku Management and Technology College in Darnagul campus and the complex of 9-storied residential buildings constructed in the territory of house-building complex № 2 in Binagadi district.
