Presentation of the documentary dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Garadagli tragedy was held

Deputies of Milli Majlis, agents of diplomatic bodies, the intellectuals and representatives of mass media participated at the ceremony. Eyvaz Huseynov, Head of the Khojavand Region Executive Power making speech at the event stated that 118 people were taken hostage, 33 people were shot just on the spot by the Armenians during the occupation of Garadagli village in 1992. The Armenians buried the killed and wounded Azerbaijanis throwing them into wells. Besides, 68 of the captive Azerbaijanis were killed, and 50 were released after great difficulties. 18 of our cognates, who were released from captivity, died as a result of torture by Armenians. 4 members of each 2 family, head of 42 family were killed and nearly 140 children became orphan. Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Republic, Chair of the State Committee of Azerbaijan Republic on Deals of Refugees and IDPs, Ali Hasanov stressed the necessity of legal assessment of genocide, also Garadagli tragedy committed against the Azerbaijanis by the Armenians. Deputy Prime Minister stated that a task was given to broadcast the film dedicated to Garadagli massacre abroad by translating it into other languages. The military prosecutor of Azerbaijan Republic Khanlar Valiyev speaking in the event stated that a series of genocides and tragedies were committed before the Khojaly tragedy. The military prosecutor stressed the necessity of legal assessment not only of Garadagli and Khojaly, but also all massacres and tragedies committed by the Armenians up to this date. Garadagli inhabitants suffering from the genocide also made speech at the event and talked about the tragedies they faced.
