The Election Commission consisting of 9 members, including 4 members from the Committee`s staff and 5 from the civil society institution representatives was established by the order No. 9, dated February 9, 2021 of the Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs of the Republic of Azerbaijan in order to organize the elections to the Public Council under the Committee in accordance with the “Regulations on the Election of the Public Council by Civil Society Institutions” approved by the Decision No. 171, dated May 30, 2014 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
At the meeting of the Election Commission on February 24, 2021, the number of members of the Public Council and the term for nomination and registration of candidates to the Public Council were determined. The number of members of the Public Council was determined as 13. Applications were received to nominate candidates for membership in the Public Council from March 1, 2021 to April 4, 2021 under the decision of the Commission. 31 people were nominated for membership in the Public Council and 31 people were registered.
In order to participate in the voting, Civil Society Institutions shall submit the details of their representatives (a copy of ID card and information on which civil society they represent) to the Election Commission by 06:00 p.m. on April 14, 2021.
For this, the said documents shall be sent to beimxd@qachqinkom.gov.az.
Also, it was decided at the meeting of the Election Commission on April 5, 2021 to hold the elections to the Public Council on April 26, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 04:00 p.m. in the hall of the State Committee. Representatives of the organizations to participate in the voting will be asked to present their ID cards or a document replacing it when receiving ballot papers.
