Spain supports the just stance of Azerbaijan related to the problem of Nagorno Garabagh

On July 27, Deputy Prime Minister, the chairman of State Committee on the affairs of refugees and internally displaced persons Mr.Ali Hasanov met with the delegation paying a visit to Azerbaijan under the leadership Josep Antonio Duran, the chairman of Foreign Affairs Committee of the Spanish Congress of Deputies. Ali Hasanov talked about the history of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorny Garabagh conflict, the relations between Azerbaijan and Spain. He stated that 20 % of the Azerbaijan territory-Nagorny Garabagh, as well as 7 adjasent districts were occupied as a result of the Armenian military aggression against our country, more than 1 million of our compatriots became refugee and IDPs during 1988-1992 years. In 1993 UN Security Council adopted 4 resolutions on the peaceful settlement of this conflict, liberation of the occupied territories, taking refugee and IDPs back to their native lands. But Armenia doesn’t follow these resolutions. The other international organizations also made a decision on this issue. However, these decisions have not yet been executed. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized Azerbaijan’s being tolerant country. The representatives of all religions live in our country. Spain that has friendly relations with Azerbaijan, one of the first countries to recognize independence of our republic. Azerbaijan is interested in collaboration with Spain. There are historical similarities between our countries. Ali Hasanov expressed his gratitude to Spain for its support in our just stance in the solution of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Garabagh conflict. The Deputy Prime Minister accentuated his assurance of refugees and IDPs’ returning back to their native lands. Josep Antonio Duran stated that they were aware of Armenians’ defying UN resolutions on the peaceful settlement of this conflict, liberation of the occupied territories, taking refugee and IDPs back to their native lands. Spain supports Azerbaijan’s fair stance and strives for solution to the problem within the framework of the European Union. The solution ways of the Nagorno Garabagh problem were discussed and the disc on Nagorny Garabagh conflict were presented to the visitors at the meeting.
