Four years have passed since April battles, which ended with victory of the Azerbaijani army. Our heroic soldiers, ensigns and officers inflicted heavy blows to the aggressive Armenian army and liberated more than 2 thousand hectares from occupation in the four-day war that took place in 2016.
The heights around the village Talish, which could be a threat to Goranboy and Naftalan, as well as the settlement Seysulan, were completely liberated from occupation. Our tricolor flag was hung out on the strategically important “Lalatapa” height, located towards Fizuli and allows controlling a large area to protect Horadiz from the threat of enemy. As a result of these battles, 320 Armenian soldiers were killed and more than 500 were injured.
Over the past period, repair and reconstruction work has been carried out in the liberated areas, including the village Jojug Marjanli of Jabrayil, where the threat of enemy was removed with April victory, a new settlement was built in and people displaced from their homeland returned to the village.
April battles further strengthened the confidence of the Azerbaijani people in military liberation of the lands occupied by Armenia.
The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev stated at the meeting with soldiers attended the April battles: “April battles are our glorious military victory, a victory that shows the strength of our state, people and army. Today, the flag of Azerbaijan waves in the liberated territories of Fuzuli, Jabrayil and Aghdara as a result of the April battles. These battles show that the people and government of Azerbaijan will never reconcile with the occupation and will restore its territorial integrity at any cost.”
