Joint Press Conference was held on the results of the visit.

Deputy Prime Minister, chairman of State Committee on the affairs of refugees and internally displaced persons Ali Hasanov and Antonio Guterres, who paid a visit to Azerbaijan held a Joint Press Conference on May 19, 2011. A. Guterres mentioned that, it has passed 5 years since his first visit. During this visit I was witness of the large-scale measures held to improve living condition for refugees and internally displaced persons at the expense of Azerbaijan itself. Azerbaijan can take pride in that there is no need for any international humanitarian supports. I highly appreciate this. Azerbaijan has been ranked at the second place due to the investment amount in this direction. During the visit I became closely familiar with the living condition, problems of IDPs expelled from their native lands and settled in hostels. I’m sure that the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia will be solved soon and people will return back to their native lands. We are ready to do our best to give you hand after the conclusion of Peace Agreement. A. Guterres declared that in the framework of his visit he met the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, heads of some state bodies, and led discussions leading to improve the cooperation between Azerbaijan and UN High Commissioner for Refugees. Ali Hasanov stated that, A. Guterres’s visit had a great political importance. So that, Azerbaijan - Armenian conflict, that hasn’t been solved yet, will be obvious to the World Community once more. Afterwards the questions journalists were interested in were answered. A. Guterres answered positively on the question of press representatives whether High Commissioner appealed to donors to help refugees in Armenia and considered it related to the lack of State Program on improvement of living condition for refugees in Armenia and limited financial resources in the country. The news that the office of High Commissioner didn’t function in Upper Garabakh was considered reasonless by the guest. On the question in accordance with the people who came to Azerbaijan from other countries he answered that, the policy by Azerbaijan was appreciable in this direction. None of the refugees came to Azerbaijan was removed from this country by force. We are grateful to Azerbaijan for its relation with those people.
