The Press Service of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs of the Republic of Azerbaijan states about the videos posted on social media from the new settlement for 1000 families in Absheron district on March 27:
The lack of kitchen furniture, hot water and gas supply in the apartments of some IDPs who were relocated to the new settlement, as well as problems regarding public transport were investigated by the authorized officers of the State Committee on the spot. And IDPs were informed that as in other settlements built by the Social Development Fund of IDPs, kitchens of the fully repaired apartments are supplied with a gas stove, closet and cupboard. In recent years, small kitchen furniture and other equipment were put into use of the residents at the initiative of entrepreneurship and business structures as a charity action in a number of residential complexes built by those structures to improve the housing and living conditions of IDPs.
Natural gas and hot water could not be supplied to the apartments in the new 1000-family residential complex in Absheron district because relocation process is not fully completed in those buildings. After completion of relocation, this issue will be resolved.
The request of IDPs about public transport is about creating opportunity of direct travel from the complex not only to Sumgait, but also to Baku and other settlements, and the State Committee applied to the relevant authorities to address this issue, and this request is expected to be responded positively. It should be noted that travel from the settlement to Sumgait is carried out by bus No.12A throughout the day.
It should be noted that relocation of IDPs to the complex started in February of this year and the process is still continuing.
