Drawing among internally displaced families to be relocated to Umid settlement of Garadagh district was held

Large-scale measures are being carried out to solve the social problems of IDPs and improve their housing and living conditions under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. Residential complexes and settlements with the necessary infrastructure are built and put into use, thousands of internally displaced families are provided with new houses and apartments every year. The First Vice President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva keeps the issue of the relocation of IDPs who are still living under severe conditions, in damaged and useless buildings in Baku and Sumgait to new apartments in the first place under control, and the instructions are constantly implemented. According to the relevant Clause of the Annexes approved by the Decree dated on February 21, 2011 of the State Program approved by the Decree dated on July 1, 2004 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the apartments in 4 five-storey buildings built for 300 families under the second stage in Umid settlement of Garadagh district will be given to IDP living in severe conditions. Last year, mainly the IDPs living under the most severe conditions in Baku were relocated to “Gobu Park” residential complex built at the expense of local entrepreneurship entities within the framework of corporate social responsibility measures at the initiative of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Lokbatan settlement of the region. Currently, the construction of “Gobu Park-2” residential complex is underway in this area. Relocation to apartments in new residential complexes put into use at the end of the last year in Absheron and Sumgait will also be carried out in the same manner, within the conditions of justice and transparency. On January 23, a drawing was held among internally displaced families to be relocated to new apartments in Umid settlement. Members of the commission established at the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs, officials of Garadagh District Executive Power, representatives of the executive powers of the occupied regions and IDP communities participated in the drawing held at the Lokbatan Palace of Culture. During the ceremony, they talked about the state care provided to IDPs, the work done to improve their living conditions, material wellbeing, as well as conditions created in Umid settlement, and the purpose and conditions of the drawing. The heads of the internally displaced families temporarily settled at 9 sites in Garadagh district drew lots by turns to determine over the pre-settled number of rooms the building and the number of apartment in which they will live. IDPs, who were happy for being relocated to new, completely repaired apartments supplied with necessary infrastructure expressed their gratitude to the President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva for their attention and care. It should be noted that Umid settlement was founded by commissioning 110 private houses built in 1999 for refugees and IDPs. According to the State Program, in 2014, 3 five-storey buildings for 200 internally displaced families and a school for 220 pupils were built and put into use under the first stage. And under the second stage, in addition to residential buildings, a kindergarten for 140 children, administrative building, medical center, club-community center and boiler room were constructed in the area.
