Job fair organized jointly by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population and the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs was held for IDPs in Mushfigabad settlement of Garadagh district, Baku on June 22. 532 vacancies from 70 entities in Baku and Sumgait cities and Absheron district were presented at the active employment event aimed at supporting the employment of IDPs. Matin Karimli, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population and Fuad Huseynov, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs attended the opening of the event. M.Karimli underlined that provision of employment of the population is one of the main directions of the successful socio-economic policy of Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and more measures are being taken by the state employment authorities year by year. The Deputy Minister pointed out that the employment of refugees and IDPs in line with the State Program “On Improvement of Living Conditions and Increasing Employment of Refugees and IDPs” takes an important part in the activities of the state employment authorities. He said that 1,9 thousand IDPs were employed by the state employment authorities during 5 months of the current year and 91 were involved in vocational training. Stating that the employment of IDPs is supported within the self-employment program, M.Karimli noted that last year, 206 internally displaced families established small family businesses through this program. This year approximately 1100 internally displaced families are expected to participate in the self-employment program, and some have already been involved in small business training courses for this purpose. Deputy Minister said that this career expo was aimed at ensuring access to labor market and increasing employment opportunities for IDPs living in Mushfigabad settlement. F.Huseynov, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs spoke about the work done to improve the living conditions of refugees and IDPs over the past period, and underlined that the Committee had taken appropriate measures to ensure employment of those people. He pointed out the significance of this career expo organized jointly by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population and noted that such appropriate measures will be taken in the future as well for the organization of such events. Unemployed people and job seekers were provided with referrals for vacant positions according to their professional skills at the expo, where representatives of enterprises offering vacancies. Those who wanted to acquire new professions corresponding to the requirements of labor market enrolled to vocational training and other training courses, and individuals were registered to be sent to the paid public works.
