Portuguese MP Duarte Pacheco, Chair of the “Twelve Plus Geopolitical Group” in the Inter-Parliamentary Union, who is visiting our country has met with IDPs, has familiarized with the conditions created in the settlement for IDPs in Masazir settlement of Absheron region on January 29. At the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs Fuad Huseynov and Head of Zangilan Executive Power Ramiz Hasanov has informed the guests about the most painful problem of Azerbaijan -the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the works performed by our state to overcome the problems of more than one million Azerbaijani refugees and IDPs. Fuad Huseynov has also emphasized that there are good opportunities for further development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Portugal and has expressed his satisfaction with the successful cooperation of both countries within international organizations. Afterwards, the guests have got acquainted with the conditions created at the Zangilan Region secondary school No 33 for 540 pupils in the neighborhood, the Zangilan Region Historical Museum and Zangilan Region "Shafag" kindergarten. Then the delegation has visited the residence of the IDP from Zangilan, Arshad Piriyev, and has talked with the family. Expressing his gratitude for the detailed information, Duarte Pacheco has highlighted that the information they received has helped them to create a complete picture of the sensitive problem. He said that his country also had a problem with refugees and IDPs. Duarte Pacheco has underlined the importance of the soonest settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and highly appreciated the work done by Azerbaijan to solve the problems of refugees and IDPs.
