The prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and World Bank was discussed

Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Republic, Chairman of the State Committee on deals of Refugees and IDPs, the chairman of the Republican Commission on International Humanitarian Aid Ali Hasanov met with the newly appointed Country Manager for the World Bank Azerbaijan Office Naveed Hassan Naqvi and Senior Social Development Specialist, Project Manager Robert Wrobel on November 8. Firstly congratulating Naveed Hassan Naqvi for being appointed to a new position, Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov wished him success in the future and highly appreciated the cooperation between Azerbaijan and World Bank. He stated that, according to the loan agreements concluded with IDPs with the support of World Bank up to now, the measures provided for various infrastructure projects, issuance of microcredits, support of income opportunities and other components were taken successfully and transparently. Specifically, according to the instructions of Mr. President, the work done up to now were analyzed, and priority tasks were determined in the meeting where the new Loan agreement was signed between Azerbaijan and World Bank in June of this year in order to strengthen efforts on the resolution of social-housing and employment issues of IDPs. It was noted that, within the framework of the project, it was planned to repair social-infrastructure facilities such as kindergartens, schools, community centers built for IDPs settled in the various territories of the republic, to supply them with drinking water, electricity, to renovate the roads between villages and internal roads, to repair sanitation and irrigation systems, as well as to implement various infrastructure projects in newly built settlements. In addition, technical and financial support will be provided to IDP communities in order to increase income opportunities and to provide employment of IDPs. Deputy Prime Minister also mentioned that, today full transparent conditions have been created for the operation of international organizations in our country by the President Ilham Aliyev by taking into account all these. The conditions created for refuges and IDPs by Azerbaijan are the example for whole world and the countries facing with similar problems can also properly use the experience of Azerbaijan in this field. At the same time, the experience gained by our country during the cooperation with World Bank may be promoted and applied in many countries of the world. Expressing his gratitude for giving importance to the cooperation with World Bank and providing detailed information Naveed Hassan Naqvi highly appreciated the work done by Azerbaijan to resolve the problems of refugees and IDPs. He stated that, organization he represents, is interested in cooperation with the government of Azerbaijan and working with IDPs.
