Azerbaijan and Turkey enjoy historical unity and it will continue for centuries, said Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee for Refugee and IDP affairs Ali Hasanov as he met with the Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ismail Alper Coskun who is completing his diplomatic tenure in the country. Ali Hasanov praised Ismail Alper Coskun's “successful” diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan, and wished him success in his future endeavors.The Deputy Premier hailed “historical bilateral cooperation and friendly ties between the two fraternal countries”. He underlined the importance of the events which were held during the diplomatic tenure of Ismail Alper Coskun in terms of bringing the two nations closer to each other. At the meeting where the ideas regarding the general condition and the development of future relations were exchanged, the Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov by bringing to attention the high level relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey established on the base of principles of mutual respect and beneficial cooperation pointed out that, the high-level relations between the leaders and people of two friendly and brotherly countries rest on historical roots. Speaking about Armenian-Azerbaijani and Nagorno-Karabakh conflict at the meeting, Ali Hasanov highly appreciated Turkey’s support in this field and expressed his regret over the fact that Armenia does not give up its aggressive policy and re-emphasized that this conflict is the most serious threat to the development of regional cooperation. Thus, using the resources allocated by the State Oil Fund, 94 new settlements were constructed, complete with social and technical infrastructure, with residential apartments covering the total area of 2.9 million sq.m, improving the housing conditions for 49 thousand families and 243 thousand refugees and IDPs. The leaders of influential organizations visiting Azerbaijan have highly regarded Azerbaijan’s efforts and collaboration with international humanitarian organizations in this area. Overall, during 1993-2016, 6.1 billion manat were spent for solving the social problems of refugees and IDPs, out of which 2.7 billion was allocated from the state budget, 2.0 billion came from the State Oil Fund, and 1,4 billion were the resources of different international organizations operating in our country. The Turkish Ambassador said that he was leaving Azerbaijan with “pleasant” impressions. He expressed his confidence that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey would continue developing in all areas.
