A meeting was held with the Resident Coordinator of UN in Azerbaijan.

Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs of Refugees and IDPs, Chairman of the Republican Commission on International Humanitarian Assistance Mr. Ali Hasanov has received Resident Coordinator of UN in the Republic of Azerbaijan and Resident Representative of “Development Programme” Antonius Broek in connection with completion of his diplomatic mission in our country on December, 2011. Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov has highly evaluated successful diplomatic mission of Antonius Broek in our country, has congratulated him for being awarded by the President of our country with the highest medal of Azerbaijan “Progress” medal for the productive activity of UN in the implementation of projects in various fields in Azerbaijan, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations. He has also expressed his satisfaction with the level of cooperation between Azerbaijan and United Nations and the practical implementation of various projects and has wished success to the diplomat in his future activity. Deputy Prime Minister, expressed his gratitude for the humanitarian and development projects implemented by the International Humanitarian and Development Organizations operating in our country associated with our compatriots who have been displaced from their native lands as a result of the conflict and mentioned that totally 1 billion dollars were spent up to now for the social defence of refugees and internally displaced persons by the international organizations operating in our country. Funds in the amount of 300 million dollars were allocated for the humanitarian and development projects in Azerbaijan by UN agencies up to now and 110 million dollars from this through the representation of the UN World Food Program in Azerbaijan, 100 million dollars through the representation of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Azerbaijan and other remaining funds by other UN agencies were spent for the various humanitarian and development projects. UN Resident Coordinator Antonius Broek described the awarding with “Progress" medal of Azerbaijan as an assessment of their activities. In the end the diplomat has expressed his gratitude for warm reception and emphasized that he was leaving Azerbaijan with pleasant impressions and he has expressed his assurance that the cooperation between Azerbaijan and UN will be also implemented successfully in the future.
