Representatives of the World Bank visited State Committee on Affairs of Refugees and IDPs

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs of Refugees and IDPs Mr. Ali Hasanov has received head of the World Bank Office in Azerbaijan Larisa Leshchenko and Social Development Specialist of World Bank Michelle Rebosio on December 1. Deputy Prime Minister has talked about the works done for the resolution of social problems of refugees and internally displaced persons displaced from their native lands as a result of Azerbaijan-Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and he has mentioned that enough and quite a good experience has been gathered during collaboration of the Government of Azerbaijan with World Bank. That's why, the works done so far have been analyzed at the meeting according to the credit agreement concluded between the Government of Azerbaijan and World Bank and priority tasks have been identified. Evaluating all these as a positive case, Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov has also emphasized the importance of accelerating the implementation of projects to be implemented, increasing their quality and drawing the direction of the projects in priority areas. Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov has stated that Azerbaijan is in front ranks among the world countries according to its economic growth in the last 5-6 years as a result of successful policy of the President of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev. The representation of Azerbaijan in Antalya Summit of "The Big Twenty", close participation of our President in discussions of the most pressing issues of modern era together with world leaders is one more factor proving gradually increase of our country’s reputation in international arena. It is also another example of world-wide importance given to Azerbaijan. Deputy Prime Minister has also mentioned that: “A total of 400-500 thousand refugees have come to the European countries with a population of 500 million generally. The leaders of the European countries together discuss what they can do about it. Let’s see what happens to those refuges in those countries? Expressing her gratitude for giving such importance to the collaboration with World Bank, warm reception and detailed information Ms. Michelle Rebosio has highly evaluated the works done on the resolution of the problems of refugees and internally displaced persons by Azerbaijan state and as well as stated that the organization represented by her is interested in the cooperation with the Government of Azerbaijan and working with the internally displaced persons.
