On February 6, the officials of the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Therese Hyden, Tobias Lorentzson, Sofia Ekfeldt Nyman, the head of Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency Mirja Peterson, and Charge de Affairs of Embassy of Sweden to Azerbaijan Tomas Danestad visiting our country met with the internally displaced persons residing in Baku Management and Technology College dormitory of the Binagadi district territory and newly built blocks in the Masazir settlement territory of Absheron district with the accompaniment of Vice-Chairmen of the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons Garay Farhadov and Fuad Huseynov to get familiar with the real situation of IDPs in the country and got acquainted with their living conditions in place. At first, the visitors in the dormitory of Binagadi district territory were provided with the information regarding the Armenian-Azerbaijan and Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the problem of more than 1million 200 thousand refugees, internally displaced persons faced by our country, extensive measures taken by the Azerbaijani government towards resolving the problem. Afterwards, the delegation came to the block built in the Masazir settlement of Absheron district for 760 IDP families. Guests were interested in a condition created in a School No 33 for the education of the pupils. Then the visitor familiarized with 280 seat kindergartens in the block. The guests were also interested in the living circumstances of internally displaced persons settled here and got acquainted with the condition provided in the apartment of Arshad Piriyev, an internally displaced person from Zangilan region. Expressing his regret for the ongoing problem of refugee and internally displaced persons the Diplomat stated that it’s very significant for him to become familiar with the IDP’s living condition and brought to the attention that the resolution of conflict in a short time will allow the return of people to their native lands and put an end to their miserable living conditions. Countries and international organizations dealing with this issue should increase their efforts.
