British Minister was informed about the realities about Nagorno-Karabakh conflict

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the State Committee on Deals of Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov met with British Minister for Europe David Lidington on November 5. Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict and the efforts done in the solution of this conflict were discussed during the meeting. Talking about the good relations between Azerbaijan and Great Britain, Ali Hasanov said that there is a great potential to intensify the relations of our countries. It was pointed out that mutual visits help to strengthen relations. The Deputy Prime Minister gave detailed information about Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict and the history of its beginning. It was noted that 20 % of our lands was occupied as a result of the military aggression of the Armenian armed forces to Azerbaijan; more than one million of our compatriots became refugees and internally displaced persons. Ali Hasanov expressed his gratitude mentioning the supports of several humanitarian organizations of Great Britain to the IDPs in Azerbaijan. The Chairman of the Committee talked about the achievements of Azerbaijan and said that the level of poverty decreased by 5% as a result of the measures taken while it was 49 % in 2003 in the country. David Lidington expressed his regret for Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict not being solved for a long time and said that the world community should pay more attention to the settlement of this conflict. The Minister noted that Great Britain is in favor of the peaceful solution of the problem. It was pointed out that the world community must provide help for the resolution of the problem. Continuation of the current status quo has no benefit for any of the parties. After meeting David Lidington visited No. 1 dormitory of Baku Management and Technology College in the territory of Binagadi district. He got acquainted with the living conditions of internally displaced persons settled here. The visitor was informed about the condition created in neighborhood built for 760 internally displaced families. D. Lidington familiarized with the condition created for students in No.33 secondary school of neighborhood, talked to students. Then D. Lidington got acquainted with the condition created at the house of internally displaced person Arshad Piriyev. Home owner talked about good conditions created for IDPs and noted that their greatest desire is to return their native lands.
