The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Republican Commission on International Humanitarian Aid Ali Hasanov received the Regional Director for Eastern and South-Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the International Organization for Migration, Ms. Renate Held on October 22. Accomplishments achieved within the framework of the projects implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission to Azerbaijan and encouraging the development of cooperation in the field of migration were comprehensively discussed during the meeting and the Deputy Prime Minister mentioned that International Organization for Migration is one of the most important organizations for the government among other international organizations operating in our country. The Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov appreciated the projects implemented by the organization after starting to operate in our country and also mentioned that assessment of economic growth of Azerbaijan, large-scale international projects implemented in the country, establishment of new workplaces, improvement of the living conditions of our citizens, refugees and IDPs and works done in this sphere as an example for the countries facing the same problem attracts migrants. As all of these lead to the increase in their number, still there is a need to continue the cooperation and projects in priority areas. In addition, Ali Hasanov gave information to guest about Armenia- Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the problems of refugees and internally displaced persons of more than 1 million 200 thousand as a result of this conflict, works done to solve their problems and also said that failure to implement the resolutions adopted by influential international organizations regarding the settlement of the conflict, double-standard approach of international powers to the conflict once again prove that all of it is anti-democratic approach. Ms. Renate Held expressed her gratitude for the detailed information, appreciating the activity of the organization represented by her and expressed her satisfaction emphasizing the great accomplishments achieved by our country despite the fact that 20 % of its land is under the occupation, more than one million citizens are living as refugees and IDPs, and discussed the projects to be implemented in our country by the organization represented by her, said that they appreciate the cooperation with the government of Azerbaijan.
