One of the oldest residents of our country, 113-year-old Grandmother Khayranisa (Khayranisa Bakhishaliyeva), who has lived more than a century, has finally seen her long-cherished longing for Kalbajar turn into reunion. In the presented video report, we witness how a person’s love for the homeland overcomes time and distance.
The video report creates a comparative picture of two different periods. In the interview filmed in 2024, before the large-scale return to Kalbajar had begun, sadness and longing for her native land are evident in Khayranisa Bakhishaliyeva’s eyes. She expresses her unshakable belief that she will return to her homeland and lives each day with the hope of seeing that moment.
In the interview filmed in 2025, under the free breath of Kalbajar, now in her own homeland, Grandmother Khayranisa is no longer a guest but the host. The video reflects her deep attachment to every stone and the air of Kalbajar, and how, after returning, she seems to be reborn.
We present the video report prepared with the organization of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons and with the support of the Special Representation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Kalbajar district.
