During his visit to our country, Javier Nart, a Spanish member of the European Parliament, visited the “Zangilan” settlement in the Masazir settlement of Absheron region, where former internally displaced persons temporarily reside. Accompanied by representatives of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons, and Zangilan Region Executive Power, the guest met with the residents and inquired about their living conditions.
The European deputy was provided with detailed information about the severe consequences of Armenia's occupation policy, the difficulties faced by internally displaced persons, and the state care provided to them. It was noted that solving the problems of internally displaced persons is one of the priorities of President Ilham Aliyev’s social policy. First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva also pays special attention and sensitivity to citizens of this category and provides them with comprehensive assistance. It was mentioned that the return of internally displaced persons to the newly created and restored permanent residences in the liberated territories has begun, and purposeful work is being carried out to create decent living conditions in those areas.
The European guest met with the upper-grade students of Zangilan District Secondary School No. 33, talked to them about his career in journalism and politics, and gave advice on education and personal development. At the “Shafag” kindergarten, children from internally displaced families presented a brief scene about fairy tale heroes to the guest.
Javier Nart also met with the family members of Mehdiyev Ismayil Davud, one of the youngest martyrs of the 44-day Patriotic War. He was informed about the biography and combat bravery of the martyr. It was noted that Ismayil, who experienced the hardships of displacement, sacrificed his life for the liberation of his homeland. The European guest expressed his condolences to the martyr's family and emphasized the importance of establishing peace in the region.
Javier Nart expressed his gratitude for the arrangements made for meeting with the internally displaced persons and stated that he was pleased with the meetings.
The European deputy is scheduled to visit Shusha to familiarize himself with the reconstruction and restoration works carried out in the liberated territories.
