The State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons held a meeting with the working group of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). During the meeting, there was an exchange of views on opportunities and areas of cooperation.
The guests were provided with information about the activities carried out within the framework of the Action Plan of the I State Program on the Great Return, the return of internally displaced persons to their native lands, and the general areas of the Committee's activities. It was emphasized that the ideological core of Azerbaijan's new development strategy revolves around the restoration of the liberated territories and the safe, voluntary, and dignified return to these territories. It was emphasized that, as a result of the farsighted policy of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the return to the liberated territories is continuous in nature. The First Vice President, Mehriban Aliyeva, also maintains constant attention to strengthening the social protection of IDPs and improving their living conditions.
During the meeting, it was noted that the Asian Development Bank (ADB) intends to support Azerbaijan in the restoration and reconstruction efforts in the liberated territories and considers evaluating cooperation opportunities in this regard important.
The responsible employees of the State Committee answered questions of interest to the guests and provided their suggestions and opinions on the prospects of cooperation.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as representatives of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT).
It is worth noting that the Asian Development Bank, headquartered in Manila, Philippines, began its operations in 1966 and is financed by 67 member countries. Of these, 48 are located in the Asia-Pacific region. Azerbaijan joined ADB on October 29, 1999. The Representative Office of the organization in our country has been operating since November 2004. The goal is to contribute to the development of the economy in Asia and, in general, in the countries of the East.
