The Republic Commission on International Humanitarian Assistance, international humanitarian organization of Istanbul International Brotherhood and Assistance Group Representative in Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society held the ceremony devoted to honor of Khojaly genocide. Families of fallen martyrs, Deputies of Milli Mejlis (the Parliament), representatives of different Government Bodies, and representatives of different public organizations operating in Turkey and Azerbaijan, and journalists participated in the ceremony under the slogan “Khojaly is our bloody memory”. The ceremony started with minute of silence to honor the martyrs of genocide, and then national anthems of Turkey and Azerbaijan were played. The Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of Refugee Committee in the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ali Hasanov, the Primary Deputy of Turkish Embassy in Baku Mr. Erkan Ozoral, the Deputies of Milli Mejlis- the President of Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society Mr. Novruz Aslanov and Elman Mammadov, Cahirman of Khojaly Rayon Executive Power Mr. Shahmar Usubov, the Senior Advisor of the Representative Mr. Ahmet Tecim, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport Mr. Intiqam Babayev, and employee of Presidential Executive Office Mr. Rasim Mirzayev gave speeches. The speakers called Khojaly Tragedy the most horrible crime of armenians they perpetrated against Azerbaijani people and terror act against the Entire Turkish world during last two hundred years. They also reminded, that on the night from 25to 26 of February 1992 armenian armed forces with the help of motorized infantry battalion of former soviet army #366 killed 613 peaceful population of ancient Azerbaijani city. 847 persons were injured, 1275 persons were captivated and 155 persons were missing. Armenians in Khojaly acted even crueler than the fascists, they wiped the entire city off the face of the earth. It was specially emphasized, that after recuperation of power of the national leader Haydar Aliyev there were taken a lot of action to disseminate true facts about Khojaly genocide to the world. Currently this activity is being continued by the president Ilham Aliyev. The year 2009 was announced to be a year of Khojaly in Turkey and Azerbaijan. There is an important role of Haydar Aliyev Foundatuion in realization of events in this framework and in the preparation of photos, documents, books and albums related to the tragedy and their dissemination to the world. The speakers also noted that the memory of Khojaly tragedy victims will never be forgotten and true facts of this horrible tragedy of XXth centry should be passed to next generations and more widely disseminated throughout the world. At the end of the ceremony there were distributed food parcels to 150 martyr’s families.
