In accordance with the Law on Public Participation dated November 22, 2014 of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Decree dated January 16, 2014 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the application of this Law, and the Regulations on the Selection of the Public Council by Civil Society Institutions dated May 30, 2014 approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, elections were held on June 14, 2023, to determine the new composition of the Public Council under the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons.

Based on the Order dated April 18, 2023 of the Chairman of the State Committee, the Election Commission was established. The Election Commission consisted of nine members, including four representatives from the State Committee and five representatives from civil society institutions. According to the protocol of the Commission, the maximum limit on the membership of the Council was approved to be 13 members.

The documents of 17 candidates who comply with the requirements stipulated by the laws are officially registered.

178 people were registered to participate in the voting based on applications to the State Committee. 172 representatives took part in the election, and 6 people did not show up.

The members of the Commission calculated the votes at the end of the election. Transparent ballot boxes were used to ensure the transparency of the elections, and the entire voting process was recorded via cameras from the beginning to the end. 171 ballots were considered valid, while 1 ballot was deemed invalid.

Based on the results of the elections, the following persons have been elected as new members of the Public Council:
