Under the directive of President Ilham Aliyev, the state has launched return process of former IDPs to the restoring city of Lachin. In the initial phase, a total of 20 families, comprising 97 individuals, are being resettled in the city. The first migration caravan to Lachin, departed from the residential complex "Gobu Park 3" in the Garadagh district of Baku city constructed to accommodate IDPs.
In the preliminary phase, the families selected for relocation were chosen from individuals with the most challenging living circumstances in Baku, Sumgait cities, and Absheron region. They will return to their homes with improved living conditions in the city of Lachin and reside in areas restored in accordance with directives of the head of state after liberation from occupation.
Although IDPs have endured a longing for their homeland over the years, they have consistently received unwavering support from the state. President Ilham Aliyev, pursued the policy set forth by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and implemented comprehensive measures to enhance the living conditions of our compatriots in this category, thus ensuring their social protection. First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva has consistently prioritized the resolution of challenges faced by IDPs, extending her personal attention to matters concerning education, cultural development, healthcare, and other significant aspects.
At present, facilitating the voluntary, safe, and dignified return of IDPs to their homeland is set as a priority within the state policy. Significant efforts are underway to accelerate the restoration of the liberated territories and implement Great Return program.
The residents who have relocated to the city of Lachin expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev, the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva for their unwavering support and the care. The residents also extend their appreciation to the courageous Azerbaijani Army, soldiers and officers who liberated our lands from occupation.
Officials from the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons, along with the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in Lachin District, a part of the Eastern Zangezur Economic District, and representatives of the Executive Power of Lachin District, participated in the ceremony that marked the departure of the first families to their new homes in Lachin city.
