On May 10, Rovshan Rzayev, Chairman of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons of the Republic of Azerbaijan, along with the committee's staff, visited the final resting place of the National Leader, remarkable historical figure, and outstanding statesman, Heydar Aliyev in the Alley of Honor. The memory of the Great Leader was commemorated as floral tributes were laid before his grave, symbolizing the enduring respect for his significant contributions.
Further, a special event was organized at the State Committee to mark the 100th anniversary of the National Leader, Heydar Aliyev. The participants commenced the event by observing a moment of silence, paying tribute to the memory of Heydar Aliyev and the courageous martyrs who selflessly sacrificed their lives in defence of Azerbaijan's freedom, independence, and territorial integrity.
Chairman of the State Committee, Rovshan Rzayev highlighted the remarkable historical contributions of Heydar Aliyev, the founder of independent and modern Azerbaijan. Rzayev emphasized the significant achievements that our nation has accomplished under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, who faithfully follows the political and strategic path set by Heydar Aliyev. Rzayev also emphasized the paramount importance of this aspect for our country's development.
It was noted that refugees and IDPs, who were compelled to leave their homes due to the occupation of Azerbaijani territories, have consistently experienced the care and attention of the national leader. The State Program, which plays a pivotal role in addressing their needs, was initiated, and implemented under the visionary leadership of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev. As the oil strategy, pursued by Heydar Aliyev, began to yield positive outcomes, the initial funds were directed towards addressing the pressing social challenges faced by refugees and IDPs. Moreover, the involvement and support of international organizations in resolving the issues of these individuals were strongly influenced by the initiatives and calls of the national leader. As a result, potential humanitarian catastrophe in the country was effectively averted.
It not noted that President Ilham Aliyev, a distinguished proponent of the policy set forth by the national leader Heydar Aliyev, has demonstrated a steadfast dedication to expanding and upholding the state's policies concerning refugees and IDPs. Moreover, First Vice-President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva has put significant efforts in addressing the challenges faced by IDPs, showcasing her unwavering attention and compassionate care. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation, chaired by Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, has exemplified a deep commitment to the well-being of citizens, including IDPs being responsive to their appeals, providing vital assistance in facilitating medical examinations, treatments, and even complex surgical operations.
Resolute policy pursued by head of state ensured a resounding and lasting solution regarding the plight of refugees and IDPs. The policy of the National Leader has successfully led us to the liberation of significant territories including Shusha, Kalbajar, Lachin, and Agdam. The end of the occupation has paved the way for our compatriots to return to their ancestral homelands voluntarily, safely, and with the dignity. Under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, comprehensive measures are being implemented to restore the territories that have been liberated from occupation. These efforts aim to transform the areas into modern settlements, fostering progress and prosperity for the returning population. Notably, the relocation of IDPs to Agali village in Zangilan district and Talish village in Tartar district has already taken place. The process of returning our compatriots to their native lands will continue in the coming months.
Subsequently, a film was demonstrated, highlighting the forward-thinking policy of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, specifically addressing the state's unwavering commitment to caring for refugees and IDPs, measures undertaken to resolve the social challenges faced by our compatriots within and beyond the borders of our country.
In their remarks, Fuad Huseynov, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee, Nizami Huseynov, Head of the Organization-Control and Analytics Department, Sanan Huseynov, Head of the Regional Management and Status Department, Habib Huseynov, Head of the Human Resources, along with Israyil Balayev, Head of the Project-Technological Department shed light on remarkable contributions and accomplishments of the National Leader.
It was mentioned that during the initial phase of the National Leader's tenure as the head of state, large-scale construction projects took shape, igniting a sense of national awakening. It was acknowledged that the potential and values instilled during this period served as a robust foundation for Azerbaijan's journey to independence and a guarantee of the country’s sovereignty.
During the decade of nation-building, under the leadership of the National Leader, Heydar Aliyev, serious achievements has been accomplished. It was emphasized that modern Azerbaijan, with its resolute strides on the path of continual progress, stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of Heydar Aliyev's work.
During the event, the attendees affirmed that the aspirations of the National Leader would be faithfully honoured. Among these aspirations was the commitment to ensure the safe return of the former IDPs to ancestral lands, thus allowing life in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur to swiftly regain its harmony.
