On October 14, the event on the subject of “20th anniversary of restoration of state independence of Azerbaijan: state care for refugee and internally displaced persons” was held at the State Committee on the Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons. Responsible persons of the President Administration, Cabinet of Ministers, MPs, heads of the executive powers of the regions, territories of which had been occupied etc. attended the event held within the framework of “Action Plan on “20th anniversary of restoration of state independence of Azerbaijan” approved by the Command dated January 21, 2011, given by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev. Firstly, in the foyer participants watched a maquette, photo stands and a video-reel reflecting the measures taken in the direction of improving housing-living conditions of refugees and internally displaced persons. Then memory of the great leader Heydar Aliyev was commemorated respectfully and flowers were put before his bust. Deputy Prime Minister, the chairman of the State Committee on the affairs of refugees and internally displaced persons Mr.Ali Hasanov accentuated that our sovereignty is the greatest blessing. Dividing the independence period of Azerbaijan into two decades, the orator mentioned emergence of the risk of losing the irreplaceable gift as a result of a grave socio-political situation prevailing in our country during 1991-1993, occupation of 20% of our lands, more than one million of our compatriots’ becoming refugee and IDP, Heydar Aliyev’s, a person possessing rich political and statehood experience, being insistently invited to authority by the people seeking a rescue way. Calling the great leader Heydar Aliyev’s return to the political power the most grandiose event of the first decade, A.Hasanov emphasized that coup d\'etat attemps had been resolutely prevented as a result of national leader’s wise policy, thorough reforms had been begun to be implemented in our country despite of the grave socio-political situation. “Contract of the century” signed in 1994 gave a possibility for using abundant natural wealth of Azerbaijan in ensuring the development of our country, raising people’s well-being, improving social condition of refugees and IDPs. Stressing national leader’s trying to deliver truths on the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Garabagh conflict to the world community, establish a legal basis in the direction of the problem solving in the international world, Deputy Prime Minister stated that Armenia had been known as an occupation country by the influential international organizations just because of this indefatigable activity. A.Hasanov underscored that solving refugees and internally displaced persons’ social-living problems was a priority of national leader Heydar Aliyev’s activity and mentioned that settlements had been begun to be established. Deputy Prime Minister called President Ilham Aliyev’s appointment to this position on October 15, 2003 the greatest event of the second decade. Stating our president’s following the policy pursued in all fields by great leader Heydar Aliyev, A.Hasanov noted that our statehood had been strengthened; our country had taken a step forward on a rapid development path, had already become a leader state in the region as a result of it. A.Hasanov underscored that improving refugees and IDPs’ living conditions was a priority of President’s activity and stated that only due to this attention tent camps in our country had been abolished, settlements meeting contemporary requirements had been established. Highly appreciating services of the first lady of Azerbaijan, president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in our education, health care, culture, A.Hasanov stated that refugees and IDPs benefited by this attention and care. Delivering a speech, the other orators– MP, deputy chief of the science and education committee of the Parliament, correspondent member of ANAS (Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences) Bakhtiyar Aliyev, deputies Flora Gasimova, Imamverdi Ismayilov, heads of the Executive powers of Fuzuli, Kalbajar, Khojali and Khojavand regions-Ali Aliyev, Vidadi Maharramov, Shahmar Usubov and Eyvaz Huseynov emphasized our country’s becoming leader state in the region because of President Ilham Aliyev’s following the sagacious policy, foundation of which had been laid by great leader Heydar Aliyev. Speakers expressed their assuredness in returning of our lands under occupation as soon as possible, ensuring territorial integrity of Azerbaijan as a result of successful and determined policy pursued by President Ilham Aliyev.
