On February 15, Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs Rovshan Rzayev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Azerbaijan Wolfgang Manig.
The guest was informed about refugee and IDP problem existing in Azerbaijan over the past thirty years as a result of Armenia`s policy of ethnic cleansing and occupation, the work done to address it, as well as the condition in the liberated territories and preparations for the return of IDPs to their homeland at the meeting.
It was noted that purposeful measures were taken to improve the living conditions of IDPs under the guidance of the President Ilham Aliyev. Caring for this category of people is of the main activities of the First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva.
Ambassador Wolfgang Manig thanked for the warm welcome. Highly appreciating the end of the conflict in the region and the creation of favorable conditions for the return of IDPs, the diplomat expressed his country`s will to assist in establishing lasting peace, restoring inter-communal relations and relations between civil society institutions. He also stated that the government of Germany intends to continue the implementation of projects aimed at supporting IDPs.
Issues of mutual interest were discussed at the meeting.
