The State Committee for Refugees and IDPs provided assistance to the families of those who became martyrs in January 20 events and the disabled.
On January 20, 1990, Azerbaijani people fought for their freedom and independence. Although many people became martyrs for this purpose, the resolve of the people could not be weakened and the national morale was not shaken.
At the initiative of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the January 20 tragedy was given a political and legal assessment at the state level. This bloody event was assessed as a military aggression and a crime committed by the totalitarian communist regime to stifle the national liberation movement in Azerbaijan and to betray the trust and weaken the resolve of the people.
The President Ilham Aliyev always pays particular attention to the social protection of the families of martyrs of the January 20 tragedy, citizens affected by this crime against humanity, the necessary measures are being taken to improve their housing and living conditions and life standards.
On the eve of the 31st anniversary of the January 20 tragedy, one-time financial assistance in the amount of 200 manat was provided to refugee family members of the victims of the tragedy and disabled people by order of the Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs.
Azerbaijan people always cherish and honor the memory of their sons and daughters who sacrificed their lives during the January 20 massacre in defense of national interests and became martyrs.
