On August 28, a fire broke out in a building made of wooden structures adjacent to the dormitory building located on Sharifzada Street in the Yasamal district of the capital and in some parts of the building. The fire was extinguished by the fire protection units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The representatives of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs visited the scene and got acquainted with the situation of IDPs temporarily settled here. Currently, families who cannot be relocated to a new temporary residential area based on the requirements of the “Rule of the fund for temporary accommodation of IDPs on provision of residential areas” approved by decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 65, dated February 24, 2017, live in the building where the fire broke out.

It should be noted that, in the student dormitories No. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 of Azerbaijan Technical University located in Yasamal district, in the yard of the dormitory complex, as well as in the dormitories No. 1, 2, 4, 5 of Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, in the sanatorium building, in the yard of the dormitory complex, in the unfinished building here, temporary settlement of 1340 families is recorded and listed accordingly. Of these, 1133 IDP families were relocated to the temporary residential area - new apartments in Gobu Park-3 residential complex.

161 families settled in this area were not provided with a new residential area based on the requirements of the “Rule of the fund for temporary accommodation of IDPs on provision of residential areas”.
