Free legal assistance action was jointly organized by the Bar Association and the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs of the Republic of Azerbaijan for IDPs in “Gobu Park-2” residential complex at Garadagh district, Baku.
Ziya Mammadov, head of the legal department of the State Committee and Ilhama Hasanova, head of Baku city Law Office No.20 made speeches at the action organized in Zangilan region complete secondary school No.20 located at the complex and said that the purpose of the event was raising legal awareness of refugees and IDPs and providing them legal assistance.
It was noted that at the initiative and under the guidance of the head of our state legal reforms are currently being made in the country, these reforms allow the provision of human and civil rights and freedoms at a high level, transparency in judicial and legal system are growing, the use of modern information and communication technologies lead to a significant change in quality of legal services provided to citizens.
It was noted that protection of the rights of refugees and IDPs, ensuring their legitimate interests are important elements of the state policy in dealing with people from this category. Considering this, management of the Bar Association recommended its members to support IDPs.
Later, individual appeals of IDPs were listened to, their questions were answered, and about 100 IDPs who were in need of legal assistance were given recommendations and provided practical assistance.
The project of free legal assistance to IDPs will be organized in other relevant settlements of the republic as well.
