On April 17, Chairman of the State Committee on Deals of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons Rovshan Rzayev met with the representative of UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Azerbaijan Quido Ambroso.
Chairman of the State Committee informed the guest about the deprivations more than 1 million 200 thousand of our compatriots, who became refugees and internally displaced persons as a result of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, faced, material and moral losses they suffered, attitudes of international organizations towards the solution of this problem, the works done by our state within the framework of its own capabilities and the upcoming tasks.
It was noted that refugees and internally displaced persons in Azerbaijan are given attention and care at the state level. As one of the priorities of the social policy carried out by President Ilham Aliyev, necessary measures are taken to improve housing-living condition of the internally displaced persons and to increase their material wellbeing.
First Vice President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva conducts purposeful work for the solution of social problems of internally displaced persons.
Furthermore, detailed information was provided about labour fairs held to support the provision of employment of internally displaced persons, as well as campaigns held for provision of high-quality medical services in the places where they are temporarily settled.
Representative of UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Azerbaijan Quido Ambroso highly appreciated the state policy in the field of work with refugees and internally displaced persons in Azerbaijan and the works done for the solution of their social problems, and pointed out that the existing experience in our country is an example in the world.
At the same time, views were exchanged on the next optometric campaign of Fuji humanitarian mission to be held for internally displaced persons and low-income families at the meeting. It was noted that the mission celebrates 15 years of activity in Azerbaijan this year and the measures to be taken in this direction were discussed.
