The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attaches great attention and care to the development of our national culture. Protection and enrichment of tangible and intangible cultural heritage created by our people for thousands of years is of the important priorities of the state policy. The First Vice President, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva has great services in preservation and global promotion of our national cultural heritage, especially our cultural and moral values related to Karabakh. It was spoken in detail about it at the “One Day in Karabakh” artistic and musical event organized by the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs at the International Mugham Center in Baku on December 24. The purpose of the event is to demonstrate and promote the historical traditions and development directions of Karabakh`s cultural environment, to enhance and stimulate the creativity opportunities of IDPs in this area. The Chairman of the State Committee Rovshan Rzayev, government and parliament representatives, national heroes, war veterans and disabled people, representatives of non-governmental organizations and IDPs attended the event. Participants of the event first acquainted with folkloric, carpet-weaving works, kitchen culture samples of Karabakh region, paintings of IDPs and other creative works at the foyer of Mugham Center. The performances of actors of Shusha State Musical Drama Theater, who played the roles of Karabakh`s historical personalities, as well as the paintings reflecting Karabakh motifs created by young artist Aydin Rahimov on the light table with sand, attracted great interest. Then, Rafael Huseynov, the Chairman of the Cultural Committee of the Milli Majlis made a speech at the auditorium of Mugham Center before the IDPs and guests. Sharing his views on the purposes and results of the state policy pursued in the field of culture, as well as work with IDPs in our country, the MP noted that Karabakh region had historically contributed decently to the rich cultural and moral heritage of our people. It was noted that Armenia, which pursued the aggressive policy in front of the world for thirty years not only destructed our centuries-old cultural monuments in this region, but also tried to gain our intangible cultural heritage, however, it became incapable against the strength and power of Azerbaijan, and as a result of the courageous and resolute policy pursued by Mr. Ilham Aliyev, our lands will soon be liberated from the occupation. It was underlined that at the initiative and under the guidance of the head of state, large-scale measures had been implemented to address the social problems of IDPs and more than 100 settlements had been built for them by now. It was stated that being loyal to the tradition of marking his birthday together with IDPs, the President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended today the opening of the new and modern residential complex for 1000 families built for IDPs in Sumgait. The event held at Mugham Center ended with a concert by the students of Karabakh mugham school. Participants of the event expressed their confidence that such events, in which the cultural environment of our native Karabakh is presented, will be held one day in our lands liberated from the occupation.
