On October 26, a career expo was held in “Gobu Park” residential complex in Lokbatan settlement, Garadagh district, Baku, where IDPs live compactly. The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population and the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs. 462 vacancies from 68 entities were presented at the active employment event. 393 of them are private and 69 are state entities. Giving an interview to media representatives at the event, M. Karimli said that active employment events are increasing year by year in line with the President Ilham Aliyev`s successful socio-economic development strategy and that employment of socially sensitive groups, including IDPs, is one of the main directions of the state employment authorities. The Deputy Minister noted that during nine months of the current year, 2349 IDPs were employed through the ministry`s employment authorities, 186 of them were involved in vocational training, and 56 in paid public works. M. Karimli stated that this year, within the framework of the self-employment program, nearly 7 thousand people are expected to establish family business over various types of economic activities, of which 1255 are IDPs. And this is a support aimed at their employment and establishment of small family business, as well as improvement of their social welfare. At present, the process of providing goods and materials for establishment of small family business is being continued. The Deputy Minister said that the organization of this career expo in “Gobu Park” residential complex newly built for IDPs also serves to access unemployed people and job seekers out of the IDPs living herein to the labor market. F.Huseynov pointed out the work carried out to improve the living conditions of IDPs and ensure their employment, and noted that purposeful measures are taken in this direction. Stating that the poverty level among IDPs has dropped from 75 to 12 percent within the past 15 years, the Deputy Chairman noted that projects are being implemented to ensure employment of citizens of this category settled in different regions of the republic. It was noted that the projects implemented by local and foreign organizations in the Jojug Marjanli village of Jabrayil region, liberated from occupation as well as the project launched jointly with ABAD (Easy Support to Family Business) this year play an important role in ensuring the employment of IDPs. The Deputy Chairman said that such events, jointly organized with the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population, are very important for ensuring the employment of IDPs. He said that this was the second career expo and that such events are also planned to be continued in the future. Representatives of the enterprises offering vacancies participated in the expo. Unemployed people and job seekers were provided with referrals for vacant positions according to their professional skills and choices. Those who wanted to acquire new professions corresponding to the requirements of labor market enrolled to vocational training and other training courses, and individuals were registered to be sent to the paid public works.
