Rovshan Rzayev, the Chairman of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs met with the delegation led by Elhadj As Sy, the Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. During the meeting, the guests were thoroughly informed about the humanitarian problems arisen as a result of Armenia`s military aggression and ongoing policy of occupation against Azerbaijan, as well as severe deprivations faced by about 1 million 200 thousand Azerbaijanis who were forced to leave their native lands. It was noted that four resolutions of the UN Security Council on immediate, complete and unconditional withdrawal of the occupying forces from Azerbaijani territories have not yet been implemented. It was noted during the meeting that the Azerbaijani government has been taking necessary measures to address the numerous problems of refugees and IDPs at the account of domestic opportunities. It was underlined that the President Ilham Aliyev has consistently been working to solve the problems of IDPs and improve their living conditions. They said that the First Vice President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva always keeps the implementation of important and urgent projects in this area in the center of attention. The Chairman of the State Committee underlined that the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies attached great attention to Azerbaijan when it newly gained independence, in difficult times and provided necessary humanitarian assistance to the IDPs at the camp sites and thanked for the activities carried out by the organization. It was noted that the newly signed Memorandum between the Federation and Azerbaijani government will create favorable conditions for expansion of practical cooperation in the areas of mutual interest. Elhadj As Sy, the Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, highly appreciated the cooperation between Azerbaijani government and the organization he represented, and underlined that he is interested in further implementation of projects related to IDPs. After the meeting, the delegation of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies got acquainted with the state of the dormitory in Yasamal district and residential complex in Masazir settlement of Absheron district temporarily inhabited by IDPs.
