Rovshan Rzayev, the Chairman of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs met with Kim Chang-gyu, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to our country and Park Kumok, the Head of the Representative Office of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Azerbaijan. The guests were informed about the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and its serious consequences at the meeting. It was noted that 4 UN Security Council resolutions on immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan are not being implemented. It has been more than 20 years that Nagorno-Karabakh and 7 surrounding regions are under occupation. Armenia`s military aggression and policy of occupation led to the displacement of 1 million 200 thousand Azerbaijanis from their homeland and as a result they faced the problems of refugees and IDPs. The Azerbaijani government is constantly working on the solution of these problems and the priorities determined by the President Ilham Aliyev are consistently being implemented. Major projects are being implemented at the initiative and under the leadership of the First Vice President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva. Social protection of IDPs, improving their living conditions and increasing their employment opportunities are always in the center of attention. The Chairman of the State Committee expressed his gratitude for the projects implemented by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, international humanitarian and development organizations in our country related to IDPs. The importance of cooperation in this area was underlined. Kim Chang-gyu`s visit to Jojug Marjanli village of Jabrayil region together with the ambassadors of other countries in Azerbaijan was recalled with satisfaction. It was underlined that all necessary measures had been taken by the state for the permanent residence of IDPs who returned to the restored Jojug Marjanli after its liberation from the occupation. A mosque similar to Shusha mosque, secondary school, kindergarten, medical center and cultural center were constructed and put into use in the village. Highly appreciating the cooperation between the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the State Committee, the ambassador expressed his confidence about continuous development of the existing relations. It was noted that the Republic of Korea is interested in further implementing projects related to IDPs in our country. The prospects of future cooperation were discussed at the meeting.
