Chairman of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs Rovshan Rzayev met with a group of foreign journalists who are on a visit to our country.
The guests were informed in detail about the problem of refugees and forced displacement in Azerbaijan as a result of Armenia's occupation and deportation policy, the measures taken to solve it, the activities of the State Committee, the situation after the 44-day Patriotic War, the works done in connection with the Great Return.
It was noted that President Ilham Aliyev defined the provision of safe, voluntary and dignified return of IDPs to their former places of residence as an important strategic task. For this purpose, the relevant state program has been adopted and is being successfully implemented. First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva also pays special attention and care to issues related to the Great Return and social protection of IDPs.
While informing the guests about the dynamics of the return of the population to the restored and rebuilt settlements in the liberated territories, it was noted that so far 108 families (526 people) have been relocated to Aghali village of Zangilan region, 20 families (90 people) to Talish village of Tartar region, 247 families (956 people) to Lachin city, 95 families (349 people) to Fuzuli city, 21 families (94 people) to Zabukh village.
During the meeting, foreign journalists were allowed to have a video conversation on a mobile phone with one of the residents - Akif Huseynov, who was relocated to Zabukh village of Lachin region on August 25. A resident of the village shared their impressions of returning to their native land, said that comfortable living was provided there and answered numerous questions from journalists.

Answering numerous questions from foreign journalists, the chairman of the committee presented them the book of the German scientist Michael Hess "Heritage of Shusha. History and Development Path of the Cultural Capital of Azerbaijan".
