A meeting was held with representatives of influential media outlets of Great Britain, Albania and Georgia, who are on a visit to Azerbaijan at the initiative of the Public Union of Non-Partisan (Parliamentary) Journalists at the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs.
Alpaslan Duven, representing the British platforms “Daily Mail”, “Daily Star” and “Europe News Agency”, Anisa Bahiti, representative of the Albanian digital platform “infowebmedia”, and Avtandil Otinashvili, representative of Georgian news sites "geodigest.ge" and "newsday.ge" attended the meeting.
It was noted that the purpose of the visit is to support the worldwide promotion of facts about the deportation of Azerbaijanis from the lands of Western Azerbaijan and the crimes committed against our people.
Deputy Chairman of the State Committee Fuad Huseynov informed the guests about Armenia's policy of occupation and deportation. It was noted that more than one million of our compatriots faced with the problem of refugees and forced displacement were subjected to severe difficulties and deprivation. President Ilham Aliyev identified the solution of the problems of this category of our compatriots as one of the priorities of the social policy and always paid attention and care to them. First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva was sensitive to the problems of IDPs.
It was noted that at present, the state faces the task of returning IDPs to their native homes voluntarily, safely and with dignity. Large-scale projects are being implemented in the liberated territories, destroyed cities and villages are being restored again, the necessary infrastructure is being built to ensure the comfortable life of the population. It was noted that despite the intensive restoration and reconstruction works in the liberated territories, the pollution of the territories by mines during the occupation slows down the return of our compatriots to their native lands.
So far, 108 families (526 people) have been moved to Aghali village of Zangilan region, 20 families (90 people) to Talish village of Tartar region, 247 families (956 people) to Lachin city, 70 families (247 people) to Fuzuli city, 20 families (88 people) to Zabukh village of Lachin region. The return of the population will continue according to the first State Program on the Great Return to the liberated territories approved by the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The guests were also informed in detail about the concept of return to Western Azerbaijan.
Later, issues of mutual interest were discussed at the meeting and numerous questions of interest to journalists were answered.
