Spanish-speaking foreign journalists who visited our country at the invitation of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs - Roman Gurevich, the head of the Israeli company Gurevich Communications, Jose Henrique Cymerman Benarroch, the correspondent on the Middle East of media organizations SIC, La Vanguardia and Mediaset Espana, well-known journalist, Nobel Prize nominee, Felipe Eduardo Larac Lopez, the correspondent of El Taquigrafo newspaper, Paul Manuel Sánchez Kiflin, the correspondent of La Vanguardia, Haaretz media organizations and The Jerusalem Post Magazine and The Berlin Quarterly magazines, Ofer Laszewicki, the correspondent of La Vanguardia (Barcelona) and La Razon (Madrid) newspapers published in Spain, met with Jewish cinematographer Yair Zimmerman, who cooperates with media organizations of Spain, Portugal, France, Argentina and other countries.
Chairman of the State Committee Rovshan Rzayev gave detailed information to the guests about the historical causes of the refugee and forced displacement problem in our country, the severe consequences of Armenia’s deportation and occupation policy, the measures taken to eliminate them, as well as the humanitarian activities of international organizations in this field.
It was noted that refugees and IDPs are covered by state care, that President Ilham Aliyev pays special attention to the improvement of living conditions and effective organization of social protection of persons belonging to this category, and that First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva always shows sensitivity and effective support in solving their problems.
It was emphasized that the occupation by Armenia was ended two years ago, the territorial integrity of our country was restored, it was possible for hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijanis to return to their native places after nearly thirty years of forced displacement, but the settlements - cities and villages in those places were completely destroyed by the Armenians, and the material and moral wealth of our people was destroyed and looted. It was stated that Azerbaijani state takes all necessary measures to ensure the return of IDPs in safe conditions and with dignity on the basis of voluntary principles. It was brought to attention that Armenia’s still ongoing mine terror is a serious obstacle to this process.
Members of the Spanish-speaking media were informed about the large-scale measures taken in preparation for the Great Return, including the restoration works that the committee began to implement in Lachin city, Zabukh and Sus villages, as well as the initial results of the resettlement of the population in Aghali village of Zangilan region, which was rebuilt based on the “smart village” concept.
Roman Gurevich and Jose Henrique Cymerman Benarroch thanked the committee management on behalf of their colleagues for the warm reception and gave information about the purpose of the visit.
At the meeting, numerous questions of Spanish-speaking journalists were answered, and the issues that interested them were clarified.
