President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva have attended the opening of newly-reconstructed “Qarabag” hotel in the city of Shusha, the cultural capital of Azerbaijan.
The hotel, built in 1980, ceased operations in May 1992 as a result of the occupation of Shusha. After the liberation of Shusha from the Armenian occupation as a result of the glorious triumph of the victorious Azerbaijani Army, on President Ilham Aliyev’s instructions the repair and reconstruction works started in the hotel.

The President and the First Lady were informed of the master plan of the city. All the projects implemented in Shusha – cultural capital of Azerbaijan, will be based on the combination of history and modernity, and Shusha will soon become one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
Along with the existing 36.2 km of roads of the city, it is also planned to build 17.6 km of new roads here.
The new residential area with a total area of 46,765 square meters in Shusha will feature 6 blocks that will house 2020 people. There will be 25 buildings in the residential area.
President Ilham Aliyev laid a foundation stone for the first block.
