On May 14, Rovshan Rzayev, Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs met with the delegation led by the head of Japanese company “Fuji Optical Co. Ltd.”, world famous optometrist and philanthropist Akio Kanai.
Chairman of the State Committee noted that our compatriots who were displaced from their native lands as a result of Armenia`s military aggression faced severe moral and physical, as well as psychological shock, and that most of them had problems with health and underlined the importance of providing them with consistent and quality medical care. It was stated that the President Ilham Aliyev pays particular attention to this issue and every year free medical examination of the people, including refugees and IDPs has become a tradition. Heydar Aliyev Foundation managed by the First Vice President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva implements purposeful work to protect and rehabilitate IDPs as a group of people in particular need of social protection.
It was also noted that the State Committee and Ministry of Health jointly organize actions to provide quality medical assistance to IDPs directly in temporary settlements.
Chairman of the State Committee highly appreciated the humanitarian activities of international organizations in our country. It was stated with gratitude that the 15-year mission of “Fuji Optical” is of great importance, optometric services provided to IDPs and low-income families are improving the eyesight of thousands of people each year.
Akio Kanai, in his turn, spoke about his visits to Azerbaijan, thanked for the appropriate governmental support to successful implementation of the mission and said that this humanitarian mission will continue in the future as well.
The meeting continued with discussion of other issues of mutual interest.
It should be reminded that 59 thousand high quality optical glasses and other items have been donated to our compatriots since 2005, when the mission was launched in our country. More than 31 thousand refugees, IDPs and low-income people have benefited from the services of Fuji humanitarian mission. And this year, the humanitarian mission has examined about 2400 people from this category.
