On April 24, Chairman of the State Committee on Deals of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons Rovshan Rzayev met with the delegation of Mine Mark Foundation of the Kingdom of the Netherlands on a visit in our country.
Chairman of the State Committee informed the guests about the humanitarian problems our country faced as a result of Armenia’s military aggression and occupation policy, and measures taken to solve these problems. It was noted that President Ilham Aliyev pays constant attention to increasing state care for those who suffer from war and need special social protection, including refugees and internally displaced persons. Task of the First Vice President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva on the relocation of internally displaced persons still living in tough conditions to the new apartments in the first place is executed.
It was noted that the occupying Armenia poses a serious threat to the lives of civilian population, including children, living in areas near the contact line, by committing military sabotage and regularly violating the ceasefire. Although Azerbaijan has cleared the occupied territories from mines and carries out restoration and renovation works, conducting awareness-raising activities on mine hazards in these areas remains urgent.
Co-founders of the Mine Mark Foundation Lala Mustafazada-Van der Kolk, Nils Hegel, public relations manager Ilaria Vallini, finance and strategy manager Alexander Zrdavkovski stated that the non-governmental organization they represent was established last year, implements projects to protect children, youths from mines, explosives ammunition and that there are prospects for cooperation on implementation of such projects in Azerbaijan.
At the meeting, views were exchanged on the issues of mutual interest.
Then guests from the Netherlands met with internally displaced persons in Masazir settlement of Absheron district and got acquainted with their living condition.
