On August 3, Rovshan Rzayev, the Chairman of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs, met with IDPs temporarily settled in Sumgait and took a close interest in their living conditions. Internally displaced persons talked about the difficulties they had faced in the damaged buildings for many years and spoke about their concerns and problems. The Chairman of the Committee attentively listened to the questions, answered them, said that the appeals would be considered and appropriate measures would be taken complying with the current legislation. Improving the living conditions of IDPs is one of the priorities of the social policy successfully pursued by the President Ilham Aliyev in our country. The First Vice President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva also attaches a great importance to the implementation of projects in this field. At present, consistent and purposeful work is being carried out to implement the assignment concerning the relocation of IDPs living in the damaged buildings, hazardous conditions in Baku and Sumgait to the new apartments. New residential buildings are being built for IDPs in Sumgait city and Absheron district by the instruction of the head of state, and their construction is nearly completed. Internally displaced persons residing in temporary shelters in Sumgait and around the city are expected to be relocated to the apartments in those buildings. The Chairman of the Committee gave relevant instructions to investigate the issues raised in the meeting and take appropriate measures. Head of Gubadli Region Executive Power Malik Isagov also attended the meeting.
