Rovshan Rzayev, Chairman of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met with a group of internally displaced persons from Khankandi.

It was noted that the liberation of our lands from occupation, the complete restoration of the territorial integrity and state sovereignty of our country gave rise to a great sense of pride in our people. IDPs from Khankandi expressed great pleasure at the opportunity to return to their native land and expressed gratitude to the President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. It was noted that the Azerbaijani residents of the village of Karkijahan, which is part of the administrative region of the Khankandi city, showed specific sacrifices in the fight against the Armenian separatists and occupiers, and respect was expressed to the souls of the martyrs.

It is emphasized once again that President Ilham Aliyev always pays special attention to solving the social problems of internally displaced persons and takes the necessary measures to improve their welfare. Important achievements in this area also belong to First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva.

It was noted with satisfaction that, on the basis of the State Program approved by the head of state, large-scale reconstruction and repair work was carried out in the territories liberated from occupation, and the Great Return to their native places began. It was reported that Azerbaijani residents of Khankandi, forced to leave their home 31 years ago, also wish to return and own their own houses and are confident that this desire will soon come true. Now they are asking to create conditions for visiting Khankandi, Karkijahan, and visiting their homeland, if they have permission from the relevant government bodies.
