Chairman of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs Rovshan Rzayev met with IDPs from Khojaly and Khankendi temporarily settled in Goranboy region,. Head of Khojaly Executive Power Shahmar Usubov, representatives of IDP communities, intellectuals and social activists attended the meeting.
At both meetings held in the residential quarter built for IDPs near Goranboy city and in Aghjakend settlement, the memory of the martyrs was commemorated, the services of our servicemen who showed an example of patriotism in the liberation of our lands from occupation, the full provision of territorial integrity and state sovereignty of our country were highly appreciated, deep gratitude was expressed on behalf of the IDPs to the President, Victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, who brought great Victory to our people with his excellent policy, diplomat and commander's talent.
The participants of the meeting were informed in detail about the situation that arose after the 44-day Patriotic War and 1-day local anti-terrorist measures carried out in the territory of the Karabakh Economic Region, the implementation of the measures envisaged in the First State Program on the Great Return to the liberated territories, the course of the return to the native lands. It was noted that there was a favorable opportunity to live in peace and reintegration in the region, to ensure sustainable settlement and economic recovery.
It was emphasized that Khojaly and Khankendi people were surrounded by state care during the period of IDP, their social protection and solution of housing problems were in the focus of attention, and it was noted with gratitude that both President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva treated these issues with special sensitivity. It was noted that the revival, restoration and reconstruction of the liberated territories, the rapid implementation of measures on the Great Return program, and now the possibility of returning to Khojaly and Khankendi aroused great enthusiasm.
It was noted that large-scale projects are being implemented in the liberated territories, destroyed cities and villages are being rebuilt, necessary infrastructure are being built to ensure the comfortable living of the population, and all measures are being taken to ensure the voluntary, safe and dignified return of IDPs to their native lands. The Chairman of the State Committee spoke about the preparatory works on the effective organization of the Great Return to Khojaly and Khankendi, as well as other liberated territories, the instructions given by the head of our state in this regard, listened to the opinions and considerations of the meeting participants and answered their questions.
