Rovshan Rzayev, chairman of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs, met with Tilmann Nagel, head of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ GmbH) for Europe. The country director of GIZ Karin Horhan also attended the meeting.
The guest was given detailed information about the refugee and internal displacement problem facing our country and the measures taken by the state to solve it.
It was noted that solving the problems of IDPs was one of the priorities of President Ilham Aliyev’s social policy, and the head of state takes necessary measures for the successful implementation of the Great Return. Providing attention and care to refugees and IDPs is a leading line in the activities of First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva.
The guest was given detailed information about the restoration and construction works carried out in the territories liberated from occupation on the basis of the order of President Ilham Aliyev, and the measures implemented to ensure the voluntary, safe and dignified return of the IDPs to their homelands. It was noted that the First State Program on the Great Return to the territories liberated from occupation will create conditions for the quick revival and sustainable settlement of those territories.
It was pointed out that ensuring the employment of the returning population is one of the important tasks ahead. The German Agency for International Cooperation emphasized that the project “Social and economic development of IDPs and low-income local population in the South Caucasus” carried out on the order of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, as well as with the support of the State Committee, is important in this regard, and thanked for the project implemented with the purpose of support to IDPs.
