Fuad Huseynov, the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons held a meeting with Gregory Myers who is a member of USAID Azerbaijan mission and an American specialist a videoconference format.
It was stated that Armenia have destroyed residential settlements, material and cultural monuments and cemeteries and damaged the environment in Azerbaijan territories occupied for about 30 years. The American specialist was told about restoration and construction works in liberated territories in details. It was noted that a questionnaire was conducted among IDPs, absolute majority of them are determined to their native territories. All necessary measures will be taken to ensure sustainable settlement in such territories for IDPs.
Gregory Myers noted that resettlement of IDPs and economic recovery in liberated territories is important for strengthening peace, tranquillity and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. His main purpose is to give recommendations supporting innovative economic models on resettlement of IDPs in liberated territories and attracting investment in the region.
The Deputy Chairman of the State Committee answered the guests’ questions about employment, improvement of housing conditions and return of IDPs and other issues.
