The Chairman of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs Rovshan Rzayev received Financial Times` Ayla Jean Yackley.
The guest was informed about the state policy implemented in our country in the field of work with refugees and IDPs under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. It was stated that addressing the problems of this category of people is one of the priorities of the President`s social policy. The First Vice President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva pays great attention and care to people displaced from their homeland.
It was underlined that the vast majority of IDPs want to return to the liberated areas - their permanent places of residence. The voluntary return process will begin once security and decent living conditions are in place in those areas. Government agencies are currently working in coordination to address this issue at the instructions of the President.
It was also stated that Armenia had devastated the territories occupied for almost thirty years and tried to destroy the material and moral heritage of the Azerbaijani people created in East Zangazur and Karabakh for centuries. It was underlined that an objective, accurate and impartial approach of influential and well-known journalists is quite important in conveying the truth about the occupation and its consequences, as well as the situation after the military and political victory of Azerbaijan to the world community.
Ayla Jean Yackley informed about the purpose of the visit to our country. She said that she had traveled to the liberated territories over the past 2 days. She visited Aghdam, Fuzuli and Shusha, met with IDP families in Guzanli and listened to their life stories.
Later, the questions of the guest were answered. After the meeting, the guest visited the business center of “Gobu Park” residential complex built for IDPs at Garadagh district and met with IDPs working there.
